This album was recorded live at the Herringthorpe Leisure Centre at our show for the Rotherham based 'Classic Rock Society' back in April 1995 both of which, sadly, no longer exist.

The 'download' version also includes two bonus tracks 'Dentist Song' and 'Exorcising Demons' which didn't appear on the original CD release due to space constraints.

'Middleground' and 'Amaranth' were also both performed that evening but unfortunately the recordings appear to have gone awol...but will be included again if we ever locate them again!

Original sleeve notes:
The omens were not good. The weather was horrendous, torrential rain for all 230 miles or so from Dorset to South Yorkshire. Neil became caght up in several traffic jams including one resulting in a pile up on the M1 ! We finally arrived at the venue at 6.30pm, Karl had forgotten his magic disks and to cap it all neither Chris Thorpe or the band had time for a sound check! On this night of all nights. Rock'n'Roll eh!!??

However...

We needn't have worried for as soon as we took to the stage everything fell in to place. The sound was great, the lights were...hot and we felt dry at last. The crowd were extremely enthusiastic creating a fantastic atmosphere and a wonderful night was had by all. The bribery worked!

Well now you can hear it for yourselves, in glorious hi-fi stereo, warts and all. This Spinal..er, sorry Galahad - Classic Rock Live!

Recorded live at the Herringthorpe Leisure Centre, Rotherham, South Yorkshire by Chris Thorpe on Saturday 22nd April 1995.

It was subsequently produced and mixed by Chris Thorpe and Stu Nicholson at Serendipity Studios in December 1995.

Except:
Dentist Song mixed by Dub Rumble and Stu at the Knighton Heath Sound Lab, Poole, Dorset in January 1997.
Exorcising Demons mixed by Neil Pepper at Underworld Studios, Salisbury, Wiltshire in November 2000.

There are absolutely NO overdubs on this recording!
All mistakes are real as is the audience!

It's all a matter of taste. I love this album. I love it's serenity, the beautiful instrumentation, orchestration and the great production. Ambient is not my cup of tea either, but this album crosses the borders of ambient music and prog. In other words: an awesome album! Martin Melis

I remember the excitement when The Sentinel was released having seen the band live a few times before. I loved the album but was aware that there were tracks missing and it had been rumoured that it was to be a double album. To hear all these takes and works in progress takes me right back to the 80's and the buzz of all the new prog that was coming out back then. This is an absolutely essential purchase for any Pallas fan. nuttinikki

This is an absolutely fantastic collection featuring near perfect newer run-downs of the Atlantis suite and Wedge tracks (with Rat Racing being my definitive entrance to this period, wonderful) as well as great and heavy concert sessions of The Cross and the Crucible and Sanctuary (personal favourite).
