In late 1996 Galahad commenced writing what was to become their fourth studio album. After a somewhat tortuous search for a new keyboard player to replace Karl who had recently left for family reasons the band welcomed Dean Baker in to the fold and immediately began to write new material for ‘Following Ghosts’.

Dean had an immediate impact upon the band coming up with many interesting and varied ideas many of which ended up on the resulting recording which also gave Galahad a more modern slant on so called ‘Progressive’ Rock, a term which at the time was still very, very uncool not that the band cared that much!

‘Following Ghosts’ ended up being the most diverse, eclectic and accomplished album the band had recorded thus far. Influences were many and varied, everything from the obvious progressive/rock influences plus elements of dance, break beats, ambient and Middle Eastern sounds as well as nods towards more acoustic based pastoral folk influences together with a few full on classical orchestrations along with the odd hint of of jazz.

This new expansive release brings together all of the ‘Following Ghosts’ related material and consists of a three CD package containing a completely new re-mix of the original ‘Following Ghosts’ album from the original 2" master tapes by Karl Groom, our engineer/producer of choice, together with ‘Alternative Ghosts’ which contains new alternative versions of every track from the original album, again engineered and mixed by Karl Groom and featuring Mark Spencer on Bass on a Galahad album for the first time.

We have also included a re-mastered version of the rather experimental ‘De-Constructing Ghosts’ album which was originally a separate companion release to the main album back in 1999. This CD contains tracks written and arranged by various other musicians, DJs and re-mixers pieced together from the original Galahad multi-tracks resulting in completely different songs in most cases!

In many ways this was a comeback album, a fresh start after the difficult trials of the previous ‘Sleepers’ album. An album which seemed to polarise opinion at the time within Prog circles, mainly because of its diverse and, ironically, truly progressive nature. Twenty-one years later, we think it actually still sounds pretty fresh and perhaps will be assessed in a positive way in today’s more accepting musical climate as far so called ‘Progressive Rock’ is concerned.

This package includes new artwork and notes by various band members and others who were involved at the time.This release will initially also only be available on CD as part of a limited run.
The re-mixed version of the original album will also soon be available as a double LP on Gold vinyl.

BBT are standard bearers for modern prog, with a sound that evokes the spirit of those legendary 70s bands whilst managing to also be thoroughly contemporary. Exhilarating melodies and rhythms, epic scale, and pristine yet intimate production, all with hints of a fairytale story just out of sight. It's all a matter of taste. I love this album. I love it's serenity, the beautiful instrumentation, orchestration and the great production. Ambient is not my cup of tea either, but this album crosses the borders of ambient music and prog. In other words: an awesome album! Martin Melis
